Join us Wednesday Night

Still In Control

Hey students! While you’re listening to this song, get your Bible and open to Psalm 77 as that will be what this devotional is on today.  I’m reading from the NLT and for unity’s sake I’d encourage you to do so as well. Listen to the song and then dive into the devotional as we walk through the Psalm together. Love you all!

– Matt R.

Christ the Sure and Steady Anchor

The time we live in is a fearful one. Whether that be through illness, as is present at the time of writing this, or the news, there are so many forces pulling us this way and that, doing what they can to distract and fill with fear.

So, as the song begins, take a moment to reflect, when the storms of life come, what do we put our hope in. Like Matthew 7:24-27, the parable of the man who built a house on sand, the other on firm ground, where do we build our house when the storm comes? When, as the song states, “those winds of doubt blow through me, and my sails have all been torn”, what do we look to? Is it Christ, or something else? Where do we build our house? Do we keep our eyes on Christ as our hopes are few?

Those Nights

Man I don’t know about you guys but I’m not a fan of this whole quarantine thing. I miss people. I miss seeing them, hugging them; I miss how life was before all this.

Because of the quarantine we are encouraged to isolate and keep to ourselves. And what I love about this song is that says how much we need people we need to speak to one another to laugh, cry, and love one another.

I’ll say it again – we as humans were not meant to be alone, and that is very evident from the beginning of creation.

Oh, My Soul

I first heard this song shortly after my father was diagnosed with cancer, a time when my mind was spinning trying to understand exactly what God was doing.  Immediately, this song became an anthem in my life.  One line in particular anchored itself in my mind and has yet to let go, “There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know.”

There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know!

Think about that for a moment.  What does fear fear?  Fear fears facing the God you know!

Eyes Only For You

Hello everyone, before we get started let’s just take a second to give a quick prayer. Pray for our country and our world as we are living in uncertain times, pray for our leaders as they are under immense pressure, pray for those families and individuals effected by hardships, and pray for those who are feeling lost or hopeless during all the craziness happening across the globe.
In the song “Eyes Only For You” the first line states that “You deserve my attention, you can have every thought in my mind.” There is so much to unpack in that one line but that’s a powerful way to start to a song. It sounds simple to just give our attention only to God right? To just turn to him for every decision and situation we encounter? That is a lot easier said than done if you ask me.
